Jordan's military said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed five missiles launched from Iran early Wednesday, targeting the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base and the US Central Command headquarters in Jordan. The attack came hours after US Central Command announced it had worked with Saudi Arabia to strike sites in Iraq used by Tehran-backed militias for recent attacks.

The US warned of further action if attacks on American troops or Saudi energy infrastructure continue. Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi called an emergency National Security Council meeting. The Popular Mobilization Forces reported at least 20 fighters killed and 32 wounded in the strikes. Iran's Revolutionary Guard also claimed to have struck three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, though there was no independent confirmation.
