Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan appeared in a Miami federal court on Monday, marking the start of extradition proceedings to the UK over charges including rape and sex trafficking. The brothers, who were arrested on Saturday, face 38 new charges brought by the Crown Prosecution Service, bringing the total to 59. Their attorney Joe McBride said they would fight extradition, calling the case a "stitch up job" and comparing it to a "political kidnapping."

The judge set the next hearing for 27 July, with a final decision on extradition ultimately resting with the Trump administration. The Tates, who have been in the US since 2025 after leaving Romania where they face similar charges, deny all wrongdoing. They also face a civil case in the US from a woman alleging coercion into sex work and defamation.
